"Well that was John's thing,"The Event" he called it." So said Paul McCartney
the day after the of John Lennon. The curious remark was never re-
broadcast ever again. What did it mean?
As the finder of evidence in John's , or rather, assassination, I think
it means that John knew he would be killed for his prolific status and influence
and that the government would get caught for his and that THAT would
usher in a new age of awareness and public responsibility that would cause a
revolution, one for the good. "The Event."
I suppose it is a shame that a book must be written, not a magazine of evidence,
before the public "gets it" and demands more truth from the media. It sends a
chilling signal to any next would be expose hero that perhaps the public is
too perverse to be saved with common sense.
As I begin this shoe in for the Pulitzer and Nobel prize awards "book" I do so
knowing that 20 plus years of appealling to the citizens of America with my
evidence has shown me much that I feel is more horrific than the crime of our govern-
ment arranging for horror novelist Stephen King to John Lennon. The
part about our role, you and me, in all the insanity that our lives really are
steeped in. What tack must I take to overcome the sheer evil in us all that wants
this truth to just go away, even if it means that all of us and the world go to
hell and ruin.
I'll let the truth be my guide and we'll all just have to suffer my less
than stellar journalistic talents.
My life became entangled with the truth about John's assassination on July
26, 1982 when I stumbled onto government crypto codes in the headlines and bold
print messages in Time and Newsweek magazine issues that were printed before,
during and after the night of December 08, 1980. A glaring photo of just elected
Ronald Reagan under the ominous headline "Who's In?""Who's Out?" that was re-
leased the day of the got me thinking; "Reagan's In.""Lennon's Out."
A closer look revealed Nixon's book; The Real War, sitting next to Reagan,
and that it was up front, as if daring the viewer to read the book. I happened
to grab that book that day and open it right to the part about why people like
John Lennon, the "..Trendies...rock stars... 'Beautiful people of New York...
who say 'war' is 'bad' and 'peace' is 'good'...must be removed from the stage of pub-
lic debate...by whatever means...a flyswatter...are needed."
I then found the bold print caption below the photo read; "Fitting together
the pieces of a complicated jigsaw puzzle..."
I knew, even then, that it was happening to me. I was stumbling onto hard evi-
dence, government codes in magazines, that proved a Nixon and Reagan connection
to John Lennon's assassination.
It was a nausiating experience, the kind that makes you want to get outside
and breath fresh air. There I was, finding the C.I.A. and its cryptographic
codes in the headlines of Time magazine, codes that told the truth about John
Lennon's . Not just my imagination, government codes in major magazines.
I found the same code like behavior in Newsweek's headlines too, as well as an
almost identical photo of president-elect Reagan sitting next to The Real War,
also released the day of the .
The evidence that day rained on me like a torent and I had to eventually
leave the library it was just so much information all at once.
I was just a beach bum at the time living outdoors on a twelve speed bike who
had found it necessary to take an extended vacation from the rat race just
several months earlier due to the grief I was experiencing over John's .
I knew that his signaled America's knoll and the beginning of
the end of all that was good about the world if it wasn't solved, exposed and
the guilty punished.
Having been raised as a child of the Kennedy and Martin Luther King
Jr.'s I knew that the world was blowing it and that the public was to
blame most of all.
It had been over a year and a half after John Lennon's that I turned
to the library for some answers to some serious questions. Why was Chapman,
the alleged assassin, allowed to plead guilty a year and a half after the
crime behind closed doors without even the benefit of a public trial? Why was
this news buried in the back of the paper in a tiny clipping? It was the
of the century, causing more s worldwide than any assassination in history.
It should have been forfront in the news all the while but it was nowhere to be
seen.
I went to the library to get a handle on how Chapman went from point A to point B.
I had no notion that there were government bold print codes all about Lennon's
murder waiting for me that fateful day. I was just a tool of fate.
I would eventually find the killer's face and true identity in issues released
months before the crime and Mark David King Chapman attached to a letter to
the editor of U.S. News and World Report where Chapman explains that he is;
"...armed...waiting to be moved into a hostile square...by the ginat hand
of Ronald Reagan..." printed three weeks before the and much, much
more in King's novels that related to the themes and elements of Lennon's .
I would discover that, indeed, I HAD discovered the real deal.
I would also discover that the public was anything but when I tried to bring
them the information. Not just mere apathy, but fear and loathing of the truth
